Details We'll Consider Together

There's a lot to consider when planning an event, and we're here to help you think through the details. Here are some things to eventually consider.

Type of event — Prom, wedding, barn dance, formal ball, community event, school program, church social, etc.

Audience — Age range, number of participants, mix of families/teens/adults, experience level.

Duration — We hear it all the time... "How long should it be?" The answer of course, is "It depends." We have enough dances to call a five hour dance. We are also happy enough to show up for an hour. Let's explore more.

Date & scheduling options — Exact date, alternate dates, preferred time window, event length.

Location — City, venue name, travel distance, parking/loading access.

Venue type — Indoors, outdoors, gym, fellowship hall, multipurpose room, ballroom.

Space available to dance — Size of open floor area, obstructions, seating layout, stage/platform availability.

Group size — Approximate number of dancers and spectators.

Event flow — Whether dancing is the main activity or part of a larger program (banquet, ceremony, festival), and whether you want emceeing, background music, DJ transitions, or full program flow.

Music setup — Whether you need Lori to bring sound equipment or use the venue’s system.

Budget — Helps determine travel, staffing, and program length options.

Special considerations — Theme requirements, dress expectations, or group‑specific requests.

Caller FAQ

  • Why do you prefer text or phone instead of an intake form?

Most people who reach out about booking a caller are still early in planning — dates, timing, and event details are often fluid. Because of that, an intake form usually forces you to make decisions before you’re ready.

Texting or calling lets us quickly talk through the details, explore options, and help you shape the right program for your event. It’s a much smoother process than trying to fit everything into a form.

  • Should I text first?

Yes, only because we don't want to miss a call.  We will respond as soon as possible and set up a time to chat.

  • Can I just call?

Sure! But it is easy to miss a call at random times from a number my phone doesn't recognize. Text if you can so we can schedule a call. Call if you can't text, and I'll do my best to catch it.

  • Do you use an intake form for my event?

We may, but most events are simple enough that a quick conversation is all that’s required.

For weddings — which involve more moving parts — we often use an intake form to collect the final details once everything else is settled.

  • Do you teach the dances?

Yes. Every dance we lead is taught step‑by‑step by a caller so guests of all ages can participate confidently. No prior experience is needed — we guide the room from the very first movement to the final pattern.

  • How long does a dance program last?

Most programs run at least 60–120 minutes, depending on the event.  We are prepared to call or play music for four or five hours straight, so we can tailor to any needs, including group-building elements if requested.

  • What ages can participate?

0-99.  We regularly lead events with children, teens, adults, and mixed‑age groups. The caller adjusts teaching style and dance selection to match the age range and energy of your event.

  • What types of events can we book?

Weddings, barn dances, galas, fund-raisers, community events, homeschool gatherings/co-ops, church socials, school groups/dances,  youth groups, young adults, couples' date night, camp groups, sweet 16 parties, and more.

If you have ten people who want to dance, we can work with you.

  • Do your callers only call dances?

No. Our callers support the full event experience — emceeing, announcements, background music, DJ transitions, and program flow.

  • Can you run the entire evening?

Yes. We can coordinate the full program from start to finish.

  • Do you work with live musicians?

Yes. We can call with live musicians or provide recorded music.

  • Do you provide sound equipment, and do we need to supply anything?

Yes. We can bring a complete sound setup — microphones, speakers, and audio equipment suitable for most venues. You don’t need to provide any special equipment. All we need is a relatively clear space to dance and a standard three‑prong 120‑volt outlet. If your venue already has a sound system, we can often plug into it instead.

  • Do you provide background music or DJ-style music?

Yes. We provide curated background music for guest arrival, dinner, social time, and quiet transitions — including traditional, classical, or contemporary selections to match the tone of your event. Between heritage dance sets, we can also play upbeat DJ‑style tracks, line dances, or popular social‑dance songs to keep energy high and guests engaged. This is especially helpful for weddings, youth events, and mixed‑audience gatherings.

  • Do you travel?

Yes — Lori and Christopher regularly travel throughout the midwest and beyond.
