Songs We Sing
Throughout the year, participants at Steps in Time events often gather in song. Some selections are traditional Christian hymns and doxologies, while others have become cherished customs within our community. We sing them to mark special occasions, conclude gatherings with thanksgiving, and strengthen the bonds of friendship that unite us.
The lyrics below are provided so that everyone, whether longtime participant or first-time attendee, can join in confidently as we share these enduring songs together.
The Doxology
The Doxology is often sung as an expression of gratitude and praise to God. Its familiar words have united Christians in worship for centuries and provide a fitting conclusion to many of our gatherings.
Praise God, from whom all blessings flow;
Praise Him, all creatures here below;
Praise Him above, ye heavenly host;
Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Amen.
Gloria Patri
The Gloria Patri is an ancient Christian doxology that gives glory to the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. We value its connection to the historic faith shared by generations of believers.
Glory be to the Father,
and to the Son,
and to the Holy Ghost;
As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be,
world without end. Amen, Amen.
Blest the Man That Fears Jehovah
Based on Psalm 128, this hymn celebrates God's blessing upon faithful households and communities. Its themes of family, gratitude, and divine blessing resonate with the values we seek to cultivate within our fellowship.
