Events & Programs
A quick look at common questions about attending our events, what to expect, and how our programs work.
Are your events family-friendly?
Yes. Many of our events are designed for all ages and emphasize community, joy, and participation. If an event has age‑specific guidelines, we’ll note that clearly on the event page.
Do I need prior dance experience?
No experience is needed. Our callers teach every dance step‑by‑step, and beginners are always welcome.
What should I wear to a dance or program?
Comfortable clothing and shoes you can move in. Some events have themed or historical attire, but it’s always optional unless stated otherwise.
How long do your programs last?
Most events run 60–90 minutes, though some special events may be longer.
Booking a Caller
Answers to the most frequent questions about scheduling a caller, event logistics, and how the booking process works.
What does a caller do at an event?
A caller teaches the dances, guides guests through each step, and keeps the event running smoothly so everyone can participate confidently.
How early should we book a caller?
We recommend booking 4–8 weeks in advance. Popular dates fill quickly, especially weekends.
Do you provide music?
Yes. We bring a curated playlist suited to the dances we teach. Live musicians can be arranged with additional planning.
Volunteering
Helpful details about volunteering with Steps in Time, including expectations, roles, and how we match volunteers to event needs.
How do I volunteer with Steps in Time?
Fill out our Volunteer Form and share your interests. We review each submission and match volunteers based on event needs and experience.
Are all volunteer roles always available?
No. Some roles—such as chaperoning—have limited openings or specific requirements. Expressing interest does not guarantee placement.
Can I volunteer even if I'm new to dancing?
Yes. Many volunteer roles focus on hospitality, setup, or support rather than dance experience.
